Volunteering & communitary work

SPANISH LANGUAGE PROGRAM FOR VOLUNTEERS Volunteer Program


This program trains volunteers in the knowledge of the Spanish language to successful communicate, relate and help the community.The objective is to promote better understanding, trust and cooperation between the volunteers and various human groups.
REQUIEREMENTS. Basic knowledge of Spanish is necessary and recommended, that is why a minimum of 2 weeks of Spanish instruction is provided previous to the volunteering experience. Accommodation:

  • In Quito, homestay includes 3 meals and laundry

  • In the reserves, basic accommodation is provided, with shared living quarters and three daily meals. Electricity and water, showers and flush toilets.

Medical insurance: Volunteers should have their own form of medical insurance and will be required to sign a document releasing our organization from liability due to sickness or any accident that may occur while the volunteer is in Ecuador. Professional requirements A college degree is not required in order to participate in the volunteer program.
VOLUNTEER ACTIVITIES:

 

  • Community service in Quito: hospitals, schools, working children, old people’s homes, Down’s children and others
  • Mainland reserves: Offers opportunities to develop a wide variety of activities including data field research, environmental education, plant conservation, agroforestry, and reserve maintenance, Activities are carried out in 8 biological stations in each of Ecuador´s four major biological zones: Amazon rainforest, Andes Mountains and Coastal Lowlands.
  • Galapagos Islands reserve: Natural marine and ecological laboratory

COSTS (per person) Community service in Quito:

  • 2 weeks Spanish lessons + volunteering $ 612.40
  • 4 weeks Spanish lessons + volunteering $ 1,224.80
Mainland reserves:
  • 2 weeks Spanish + 4 weeks volunteer $ 1,007.40

Galapagos Islands Reserve:

  • 2 weeks Spanish + 4 weeks volunteer $ 1272.40

FOR ALL PROGRAMS VOLUNTEERS ARE ALSO REQUIRED TO PAY:

  • Application fee: $ 60 paid only once and non refundable
For Galapagos Reserve:
  • Flight to the Islands (approximately US $225)
  • Galapagos park fee $100 USD in cash upon arrival at the airport; this is charged to all visitors to the islands.

Program includes:In Quito:
  • Airport transfer
  • Spanish lessons: 60 min.
  • Reception: Welcome, presentation and placement tests
  • Materials: books, exercise books, audiovisuals and other teaching aids
  • Voluntary advice and placement
  • Completion diploma
  • Homestay: three meals and laundry
  • Local taxes
  • Spare time activities: city tours, music, field trips, market places, parks, etc.

Does not include:
  • Travel fees
